Years ago, I started making “Soft Pretzel Knots” and they were an immediate hit not only with my family and friends, but our market customers too. Each Saturday I would bring a basket full of these to sell, and they would disappear as quickly as I put them out.

Wanting to expand on their popularity, I started experimenting with the recipe and added homegrown garlic into the recipe. Right before placing these new “GARLIC KNOTS” in the oven, I coat them with an egg and milk mixture, and then top them with Parmesan cheese. Wow! The combination of garlic and parmesan give these knots an EXPLOSION of flavor. Simply mouth-watering!

These have also become a huge hit with our Market customers. My daughter always asks me to save her one, before I bring the rest of the batch for our Waxhaw Farmer’s Market. They are her favorite.

Stop by and try these the next time you’re at the market.

Garlic & rosemary is a hearty pairing that goes together like peanut butter and jelly. The combination of fresh rosemary and crushed garlic fill our house with the most wonderful aromas every time we bake up a fresh batch of loaves.

I love the versatility of this bread. I serve it with any of the pasta-type dishes we serve here at the house. Home-made spaghetti always tastes better with fresh slices of this bread. Stuffed shells, cheesy-ravioli, and Mom’s favorite lasagna end up playing second fiddle when served alongside freshly baked garlic & rosemary bread.

Recently, I have started making my own TEXAS TOAST style garlic bread with slices of this bread. It’s so easy to do and a DELICIOUS addition to any chicken, steak, or pasta dish.

Here’s what you do: Take some butter or margarine that you have in the house. Add 1 or 2 crushed garlic cloves and microwave that combo for about 30 to 45 seconds… (just enough to melt the butter). Slice up your bread (I like to slice mine THICK, like Texas Toast) and spread the garlic butter combo onto each slice. Toast up in your toast oven, or regular oven, just enough to make it toasty. You will LOVE the flavor this toast will add to your meal.

Stop by the Waxhaw Farmer’s Market (opened until Dec. 17th, 2011) and pick up a loaf of this wonderful bread…
